Lessons

Everyone sings, period. Singing is a part of every human community on earth, bringing us together and helping us play and interact with one another. Private voice lessons help to develop natural technique, and allow the student to progress at their own pace. Through private lessons, students gain the confidence they need to audition and perform. My approach to strengthening the voice includes technique, with physical and cognitive reinforcements. A typical lesson will include:

  • Relaxation techniques
  • Vocal exercises, which include strength and agility exercises for the voice
  • Repertoire selection and the memorization process, appropriate for your level and music interests
  • Weekly assignments and goal planning for performances and auditions.

Through private lessons students develop tone, pitch, breath control, and posture. Typically students who study privately also gain an awareness of the physical tensions that hinder the ability to sing freely.

Each voice lesson is tailored to the students' individual needs and musical interests.

Whether your goal is to sing professionally, audition for college entrance and scholarships, join a local choir, or just to sound better in the shower....private voice lessons will help.

I have taught voice privately for over 20 years, and during that time I have guided many individuals to sing to their best ability, regardless of style. I have had students receive vocal scholarships to Berklee College of Music, CalArts, Arizona State University, Juilliard, University of Arizona, Northern Arizona University, and The American Musical and Dramatic Academy to name a few. My students have been cast in prestigious roles, and won awards at both national and local competitions.

I have been the Performing Arts Department Chair at NSAA for the past ten years, and have had the privilege of guiding young singers and helping them achieve their goals.

I enjoy coaching and teaching vocalists in a wide variety of styles from Jazz to Country, Rhythm & Blues to Classical.

If you are a singer who is interested in private lessons, I encourage you to sign up for an introductory lesson. If there is a waiting list, students will be contacted on a first come first served basis. You will find information regarding fees and policies below
